In honor of our new
Pope, here is a prayer by the saint whose name he chose. It is so simple, yet
it speaks volumes about the faith of the saint and the man who loves him.
St. Francis of Assisi’s
prayer before the
Crucifix at San Damiano:
Most High, glorious
God,
Enlighten the darkness
of my heart
And give me true faith,
Certain hope and
perfect charity,
Sense and knowledge,
Lord,
That I may carry out
Your holy and true
command.
